VITA Appointments Nearly Full, Walk-In Services Now Available

Kings Community Action Organization’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is in high demand, with March fully booked and only a few appointments left in early April. In response, KCAO has announced new walk in opportunities to help serve more residents before the April 15 tax deadline.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, VITA, provides free tax preparation services to individuals and families who generally earn sixty-seven thousand dollars or less. Through VITA, IRS certified volunteers offer free basic income tax preparation and electronic filing to qualified individuals, helping residents file accurate returns and claim eligible tax credits at no cost.

To accommodate the growing need, KCAO will now offer walk in tax preparation services on the following days:

  • Every Tuesday in Hanford from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • The third Wednesday and fourth Thursday of March in Avenal.

These walk-in days are intended to provide additional access for those who were unable to secure an appointment. Availability may vary based on demand, and residents are encouraged to arrive early.

VITA services are available to all Kings County residents who meet income eligibility guidelines. In addition to filing current year taxes, the program can assist with prior year returns when scheduled appropriately.

With tax season moving along quickly, KCAO encourages eligible residents to take advantage of this free service while space remains available.

For more information about required documents, eligibility, or to make an appointment, visit www.kcao.org/vita or contact KCAO directly.
