Kings Community Action Organization (KCAO) Weatherization Assessor/Inspector Jonathan Hernandez represented the agency at the 2025 CalCAPA Conference in early November, where he led a workshop focused on strengthening statewide approaches to Department of Energy (DOE) weatherization programs.
Kings Community Action Organization saw one of its busiest months of the year this November, distributing holiday food to thousands of families across the county. With many residents facing seasonal layoffs and rising costs, KCAO’s food distributions provided both essential support and a sense of celebration heading into Thanksgiving.
More than 200 community members filled the Hanford Fraternal Hall on Nov. 7 for KCAO’s Monte Carlo Casino Night, raising funds that will support thousands of families through the KCAO Food Bank.
On Friday, October 10, 2025, KCAO hosted a powerful Domestic Violence Awareness Walk and Resource Fair at Civic Center Park in Hanford to raise awareness and support survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Over the past couple weeks, KCAO’s Head Start Program hosted a series of Family Engagement Nights at every Head Start site throughout Kings County. These special evening events invited parents and guardians to join their children after school for an afternoon of learning, play, and connection.


KCAO Deputy Executive Director Glenda Stephens has been named the Staff Member of the Year by the California Community Action Partnership Association, an honor presented during the 2025 CalCAPA Conference held in early November. The annual award recognizes one Community Action staff member statewide for exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to reducing poverty in California.
