Head Start Enrollment Now Open for the 2026–2027 School Year

Kings Community Action Organization is now accepting applications for all Head Start programs for the 2026–2027 school year, with classes beginning in August.

Applications are processed in the order they come in, so families with children ages 0 to 5 are encouraged to apply early for one of KCAO’s high quality, no cost early childhood education programs across Kings County.

For families hoping to enroll their child before August, it is important to apply as soon as possible. Head Start will stop processing applications for the current 2025–2026 school year in April.

KCAO Head Start programs offer more than preschool. Children receive a safe and nurturing learning environment designed to support school readiness, social emotional growth, and healthy development. Families also benefit from comprehensive support services.

Program benefits include:

✅ Qualified, caring teachers

✅ Nutritious meals and snacks

✅ Health, dental, and developmental screenings

✅ Family engagement and support services

✅ Inclusive classrooms for children with special needs

✅ Bilingual staff and culturally responsive care

Flexible part day and full day program options are available to meet the needs of working families.

Early childhood education plays a critical role in preparing children for lifelong success. Head Start supports not only children’s academic development, but also their confidence, independence, and social skills.

Spots fill quickly each year, and families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
