Good Neighbor Day Resource Fair Brings Community Together Through Kindness

KCAO’s AmeriCorps Neighbor to Neighbor volunteers recently hosted a Good Neighbor Day Block Party and Resource Fair, bringing together community members, local organizations, and acts of kindness in celebration of Good Neighbor Day America and America250.

The event was organized by KCAO AmeriCorps members Alix Pantoja and Danielle Collazo, who created a welcoming space for families and residents to connect with helpful resources while celebrating the power of kindness. The event also supported the larger America250 goal of inspiring 250 million acts of kindness in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Throughout the day, approximately 120 community members attended the resource fair, where they had the opportunity to visit with 11 local vendors and learn more about programs, services, and support available in the community.

Guests also enjoyed free hot dogs, popcorn, and water while participating in kindness-themed activities. One activity invited guests to paint kindness rocks with positive and encouraging messages that could be placed around the county to brighten someone’s day. Another activity, kindness bingo, encouraged participants to complete acts of kindness for a chance to receive a free Raising Cane’s box combo meal.

The Good Neighbor Day Resource Fair was a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact. Whether through sharing resources, offering encouragement, or simply bringing neighbors together, the event reflected the spirit of community and connection that KCAO works to strengthen every day.

KCAO is proud of its AmeriCorps Neighbor to Neighbor volunteers for leading this effort and helping create a positive, family-friendly event that encouraged kindness throughout Kings County.
