KCAO Launches Annual Community Champion Campaign to Support Barbara Saville Shelter

Kings Community Action Organization is preparing to launch its annual Community Champion Campaign, giving community members an opportunity to double the impact of their donations in support of the Barbara Saville Domestic Violence Shelter.

For the seventh consecutive year, James G. Parker Insurance Associates will serve as KCAO’s Community Champion, generously matching donations made between November 1 and December 31, 2026, up to a total of $10,000. If the campaign reaches its fundraising goal of $10,000, James G. Parker Insurance Associates will contribute an additional $10,000, bringing the total raised to $20,000 for the shelter.

The annual campaign provides an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and community organizations to come together during the holiday season to support some of Kings County’s most vulnerable residents. With the matching contribution, every dollar donated will have twice the impact.

Established in 1983, the Barbara Saville Shelter provides a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse, as well as women and children experiencing homelessness. The 38-bed shelter operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing emergency shelter, meals, counseling, advocacy, and essential resources to individuals and families in need.

Funds raised through the Community Champion Campaign will help KCAO continue providing these critical services, offering survivors a safe and supportive environment as they work toward rebuilding their lives with dignity, stability, and independence.

KCAO is grateful to James G. Parker Insurance Associates for seven years of continued generosity and commitment to supporting the Barbara Saville Shelter. Their partnership has helped make the Community Champion Campaign an important annual fundraising effort, bringing the community together to support individuals and families during difficult times.

Community members are encouraged to participate in this year's campaign by making a donation between November 1 and December 31. No contribution is too small, and every gift helps ensure that individuals and families in crisis have access to the safety, care, and resources they deserve.

Together, we can reach our $20,000 goal and make twice the difference for survivors and families throughout Kings County.
