Make a Difference This Tax Season: Volunteer with KCAO’s VITA Program
Every year, hundreds of families in Kings County rely on the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to file their taxes quickly, accurately, and most importantly, for free. This essential service ensures that low to moderate income individuals and families keep more of their hard-earned money while accessing the tax credits and refunds they deserve.
But this program isn’t possible without volunteers, and that’s where you come in.
KCAO is now recruiting volunteers for the upcoming tax season. With just a little training, you can become a certified volunteer tax preparer or serve in other important roles such as client intake, translation, or appointment scheduling. No prior experience is required! We’ll provide everything you need to succeed.
Training Dates: December 10–12, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: KCAO Main Office, 1130 N. 11th Ave., Hanford, CA 93230
Interested in volunteering? Apply online at the link Volunteer — KCAO or scan the QR code on the flyer and select VITA when filling out the application. Training, certification, and materials are provided at no cost.
Volunteering with VITA is more than just learning a new skill—it’s about changing lives. Many clients who come through the program are hardworking families, seniors, and individuals who would otherwise struggle to afford professional tax services. By donating your time, you can:
Help neighbors maximize their refunds and claim credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
Relieve families of the burden of costly tax preparation fees.
Gain valuable personal and professional skills, from tax knowledge to client service.
Play a direct role in building financial stability across our community.
In our community, financial stress is a barrier too many families face. The VITA program not only eases that burden but also helps put thousands of dollars back into the local economy each year. For many families, that refund can mean keeping the lights on, paying rent, or buying groceries.
By becoming a volunteer, you’ll be part of something bigger. A movement to ensure that everyone, regardless of income, has access to fair, accurate, and free tax preparation.
This tax season, use your time and skills to make a real difference. Volunteer with VITA and help your neighbors build brighter financial futures.
