Head Start’s Family Engagement Nights

Over the past couple weeks, KCAO’s Head Start Program hosted a series of Family Engagement Nights at every Head Start site throughout Kings County.

These special evening events invited parents and guardians to join their children after school for an afternoon of learning, play, and connection. Families participated in a variety of hands-on activities designed to encourage creativity, communication, and collaboration between parents and their children.

From art projects to interactive games and outdoor play, each event offered families the opportunity to experience the classroom environment together. For many parents, it was a chance to see firsthand how their children learn, interact, and grow in a Head Start setting.

KCAO’s Family Engagement Nights are part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening family involvement in early education. By creating opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s learning environment, the program helps build stronger home & school connections and supports children’s social and emotional development.

The evenings also provided a chance for parents to connect with teachers and other families, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

KCAO’s Head Start programs provide free, high-quality early childhood education for children ages 0–5 and comprehensive support for families across Kings County. The programs focus on school readiness, nutrition, health, and family well-being, and helping children build the skills they need to thrive.
