Water Assistance

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) 

LIHWAP is a federally funded program that offers a one-time payment, up to a maximum of $2,000, to help you pay your current or past-due water and/or wastewater bills that accrued during any timeframe.  

LIHWAP is funded by the California Department of Community Services and Development​.

Currently, there is no funding available for water assistance. Appointments are no longer available until further notice.

Water Assistance Eligibility

LIHWAP is a once-in-a-lifetime assistance program. If you have already received assistance in the previous years, you do not qualify again. If this is the case, please don’t schedule an appointment. Thank you!

  • Be a Resident of California​

  • Be A Kings County Resident​

  • Be Responsible for Water Bills and Cost​

  • Meet Income Guidelines​

Required Documents

  • Valid Picture Identification​

  • Social Security Card​

  • Current Income for all Household Members (Dated Last 30 days) ​

  • Current Water Bill with all pages (Dated Last 30 Days)​

  • Cal Fresh - Current Food Stamps Documentation if Applicable (Passport to Services) Dated Last 30 Days
