Day Care Homes Food Program

March is National Nutrition Month!

Join the KCAO Nutrition Education and Hunger Prevention Department as we focus on the importance of healthy eating habits.

The KCAO Day Care Homes Food Program (DCH) helps young children develop healthy lifelong habits.

Care providers active under the DCH program must ensure that meal patterns and food served meet USDA guidelines. The guidelines recommend consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables, increasing whole grains, and reducing sugar and fat intake. Encouraging a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle can influence children's learning and improve the connection between the mind and body.

Our dedicated staff helps daycare providers meet our program's requirements and guidelines.  They are here to answer questions, respond to concerns, and provide childcare providers with as much support as possible.

If you want more information about the program, or if you are a licensed childcare provider and want to see if you qualify, please call the Day Care Homes program at (559) 772-4391 Ext. 7602
