There’s Still Time to Enroll Your Child in Head Start for the 2026–2027 School Year

KCAO is still accepting applications for Head Start programs for the 2026–2027 school year, with classes beginning in August.

Families with children ages 0 to 5 are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for KCAO’s high-quality, no-cost early childhood education programs offered throughout Kings County. Applications are processed in the order they are received, and spots can fill quickly.

KCAO Head Start programs provide more than classroom learning. Children are welcomed into safe, supportive environments where they can build school readiness skills, develop confidence, grow socially and emotionally, and receive the care they need during their earliest years of development.

Families enrolled in Head Start also have access to comprehensive support services designed to strengthen the whole family. Program benefits include qualified and caring teachers, nutritious meals and snacks, health and developmental screenings, family engagement opportunities, inclusive classrooms for children with special needs, bilingual staff, and culturally responsive care.

Flexible part-day and full-day program options are available to help meet the needs of working families.
