Utilities Assistance

Our goal at the KCAO Home & Energy Department is to lend support to those navigating difficulties with their utility bills. Recognizing the crucial role of water, gas, electricity, and other essential utilities, we offer various programs designed to address the needs of individuals and families, assisting with both current and past due bills.

In March 2024, Federal funding was approved for Fiscal Year 2024.  In the approved budget, LIHEAP 2024 saw a reduction of $2.07 billion dollars across the country.  This reduction has a direct impact on the utility funding we are able to provide families.  We do recognize the impact this will have on our community and we will work hard to do our best to serve households in need.

KCAO will now be prioritizing households with not only the lowest income and highest energy burden, but through vulnerable populations as well.  This includes demographics such as, children under five, disabled, and persons over 60 years of age.

We understand that this may impact a lot of our families that would normally receive utility assistance, so should funding change in the near future, we will update this announcement.

If you would like to receive text messaging service from us with updates on KCAO energy programs, please text "ENERGY" to 559-314-3627."
