Child Care Options
Quality child care can be found in a variety of settings. The setting you choose should take into consideration your child's personality and your family's needs.
Child Care Centers
Centers are licensed by the Fresno Department of Social Services to care for 12 or more children in a group setting. Children are generally grouped by age. The adult to child ratio can range from 1:3 for infants to 1:12 for preschool age children. They usually operate traditional daytime hours and close on most major holidays. Centers are generally monitored by Community Care Licensing once a year.

Family child care is provided in the private home of a licensed caregiver for up to eight children with one adult or up to 14 children with one adult and an assistant. This is a privately operated business allowing for the owner and operator to be more flexible in days and hours of service, philosophy, sevices offered and price range. Programs range from a traditional home style environment to a more formal preschool type model Family Child Care providers are generally monitored once every three years..
License - Exempt Care
Exempt care means the provider is not required to be licensed by the state of California and therefor not monitored. Exempt providers can care for the children from one family besides their own.
